Project: Assessment of climate risks of the project for the construction of peak/standby generation with a capacity of 300 MW at CHPP-5, Belarus
Purpose: conduct an assessment of physical and transition climate risks using TCFD recommendations in accordance with the requirements of the Equator IV Principles in relation to the project for the construction of peak/standby generation with a capacity of 300 MW at CHPP-5 of Brestenergo OJSC, Belarus. The assessment was necessary for potential lenders as part of the environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) of the Project.
Approach: ENSOR specialists conducted a high-level assessment of potential physical and transition climate risks (the first stage of the CCRA). The assessment examined the site's exposure to climate risks, taking into account the results of the scenario analysis, as well as additional information obtained as a result of the qualitative assessment. For each risk element, a potential risk designation is given, as well as a commentary on recommended further actions to mitigate the risk.

Result:

Potential lenders received expert advice regarding the Project's climate risks and their management strategies.
