Project: Environmental and Social Assessment of a Project related to construction and operation of a new Air Separation Unit (ASU) facility

Purpose: to identify and assess the potentially significant existing and future adverse environmental and social impacts associated with the Project and its Associated Operations, assess compliance with applicable laws and the EBRD ESP and ESRs, determine the measures needed to prevent or minimise and mitigate the adverse impacts, and identify potential environmental and social opportunities, including those that would improve the environmental and social sustainability of the Project and/or the associated current operations.

Approach:

ENSOR specialists performed the following tasks:

·Identification of project-related environmental and social impacts and risks;

·Describing and characterizing environmental and social baseline commensurate with the risks posed by the project and the associated operations, assessment of the cumulative impact and risks associated with the proposed project;

·Development of an E&S Assessment report in accordance with the Bank’s requirements;

·Preparation of a Stakeholder Engagement Plan, Environmental and Social Action Plan and Non-Technical Summary.

Results:

Project deliverables, including an E&S Assessment report, Stakeholder Engagement Plan, Environmental and Social Action Plan and Non-Technical Summary were prepared in English. The Stakeholder Engagement Plan and Non-Technical Summary have been translated into Russian and Uzbek for further disclosure to the stakeholders.
